Sound Systems Accreditation Scheme

This is a programme developed by the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) and delivered by WSCVYS in West Sussex. It is a comprehensive and preventative approach, implementing policies and procedures that protect children and young people from any potential source of harm. Safeguarding is wider than child protection, although it is an important aspect.

Sound Systems turns policies in to living practice. It is about making sure that the right people are recruited as employees and volunteers to work with young people in all settings, and creating a culture of openness and honesty, as well as protecting children and young people from harm without smothering their potential and need for challenge and excitement.

  • Would you like to speak to a member of the WSCVYS team to access the Sound System Accredited Scheme? The usual cost is £30 (bi-yearly renewal), but we are looking for ten organisations to be part of the pilot at no cost for the initial accreditation.

Keeping it Safe

Keeping it Safe: a young person-centred approach to safety and child protection has achieved widespread endorsement and praise. It's an essential tool helping children and young people's voluntary and community organisations work through the process of safeguarding. This resource includes information on ensuring that activities with young people are safe, that organisations have policies and procedures in place to deal with safeguarding issues and that staff and volunteers are safely recruited, managed and trained in order to work with young people.
