WORKING TOGETHER BETTER TOGETHER

Thursday 14 May 2009 3.30-5pm (venue TBA but Horsham)

Contact Hanna for further information - there are some spaces for a few more participants at this meeting.

Using the toolkit to assess VCS engagement in the planning, strategy, delivery and evaluation of services for children, young people and their families, we will be working with a cross section of our partners to with our NCB facilitator using a joint approach.

To keep the consultation real our focus is CYPP - 2010. This means that a nationally agreed protocol linked to a well renowned national agency, NCB, acts as a framework for good Children's Trust practice and how that can be embedded in the arrangements.

Please note we are running one session only on this day

Third sector views needed to shape the training of Directors of Children's Services

A training and development programme is being created for Directors of Children's Services. It is important that leaders of children's services understand and engage with the third sector, and have the skills and knowledge to do so. A short online questionnaire (two questions only) is now available and NCVYS encourages all members to
express their views by the closing date of 15 May.

A few free places remaining for voluntary and community sector organisations remain on the ParticipationWorks training course 'Building a Culture of Participation' in Brighton on 12 May.

This course is designed to equip participants with basic theory, practical approaches and tools to help build a culture of participation within an organisation. The course explores how an organisation's culture can be established and embedded to support children and young people's active and meaningful participation within the organisational infrastructure. This practical course is supported by an in-depth research report and handbook, originally created by NCB and PK Research Consultancy for the DCFS.

To book a place or find out more about the courses visit Gateway or call the Enquiry Line 0845 603 6725.

VCS Safeguarding Forum launching on the 14th May 2009
The first meeting is at Horsham YMCA 10-12pm.

We recognise that Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. To support our increased engagement, the Local Safeguarding Children's Board (LSCB) is fully committed to this Forum and will work with us to improve 'how' we work together to improve Safeguarding arrangements through the Forum.

The Forum will address the needs of the VCS in accessing more timely and accurate local and national information around Safeguarding.  It also has two equally important functions of providing access to training and development for all our staff - including volunteers - and around safe working practices.

If you would like to discuss VCS Safeguarding opportunties or raise any items for the first agenda, please contact Isabelle.
