co-leading the Partnership strand with WSCC's Sue Couchman. It is
everyone's Plan so your input is invaluable- see below!

What can the VCS do to get involved?
- Cascade
information about the plan to others: e.g. to colleagues, other
parents/carers, other agencies
- Attend
stakeholder events and encourage others to get involved
- Tell
us how we
can best access the views of the various groups/ communities you
represent
- Help
us to find the most effective way of ensuring the plan is informed by and
linked to local initiatives, plans and priorities; and/orJoin
one of the working groups

Play, Extended Schools & Positive Activities Event
Tuesday 3 March 2009 at Lodge Hill Centre 9.30-4.40 (lunch provided)
WSCVYS & WSCC Youth Service are jointly hosting this FREE conference which will develop the foundation for:
- the West Sussex Play Strategy
- Extended Schools Core Offer for secondary schools
- Promotion of Positive Activities
The day will provide excellent opportunities for discussion and sharing of knowledge and positive experiences. Highlights will include:
- Workshops to explore, discuss and review best practice in the field of 'play'
- managing challenging behaviour through positive activities
- learning about the role of the voluntary sector in supporting early intervention and transition activities

South of England Show 11-13 June 2009
South of England Showground, Ardingly
WSCVYS invites groups and organisations to participate in celebrating &
showcasing the diversity of activites of children and young people in West
Sussex. In doing so, you can encourage your young people to explore new
experiences, develop new skills, strengthen community links, share their
talents & develop and encourage their self confidence, through workshops
and performances in front of the visiting public.

BME COMMUNITY SERVICES
BME-CS Conference

WSCVYS is pleased and proud to work in partnership with Amina, Pamela and the team at BME Community Services, which... 'is a charitable organisation established with an aim to
address the gap in services for Black and Minority Ethnic Communities on the
West Sussex Coastal Strip. These communities consist of diverse ethnic origins,
with different religions, languages and cultural values. As an umbrella
organisation our main aim is to support the establishement ethnic minority
community groups and to support individuals and families in addressing their
needs to help reduce marginalisation and isolation. Our areas of coverage are
Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Worthing, Shoreham and the surrounding
rural towns'.
A quick browse on the BME-CS website will lead you to a great deal of useful and interesting information, for example, the monthly Potluck and Family Fun Do take a moment to see what is on offer from this fabulous group.

ONE CHILDREN'S WORKFORCE
Four Day Induction Programme
This is a multi-agency programme including everyone who works either directly or indirectly with children, whether that is in local authorities, Primary Care Trusts, or the voluntary, private and independent sectors.
The programme consists of four days containing five generic modules with an underpinning theme of the benefits of effective communication and sharing of information across and within sectors and disciplines.

28 & 29 January - Brinsbury College
23 February venue TBC
16 March venue TBC.
The course is FREE and there are still a few places available.
