'Give us two hours and help make a lifetime of difference'

It is important that we work together to develop the Plan - we won't make a difference working alone. Each event will provide the opportuntiy to highlight what is already working well, and agree what what we can do together, that will make the biggest differences for the children and young people in West Sussex.

Each event lasting around 2 hours

24 April Littlehampton
27 April Midhurst
30 April Crawley

From Hanna

CYPP 2010 -
How can the VCS have a voice in the development of the Plan?

The answer is simple: Get involved and have your input in the process.

Help us to ensure the plan is informed by and linked to local initiatives, plans and priorities and reflects the work of the VCS - and the children, young people and families we support.

You can -

Join one of the working groups.

Cascade the plan to colleagues, parents and carers, other agencies.

Attend stakeholder events and encourage others to get involved.

Hold your own stakeholder event - we can support you to do this.

Tell us how we
can best access the views of the various groups/ communities you represent.

Come to Children's Trust CYPP2010 Planning Events -

Contact Hanna to discuss what you want to do to support the process.

SOUTH of ENGLAND SHOW  -  June 11- 13 2009
South of England Showground, Ardingly

Summer is in the air -  the South of England Show is nearly here. We still have some opportunities for children and young people who wish to participate.

Thursday's theme is sports, activities and workshops. Friday and Saturday have a performance emphasis.

As well as the fanatistic talent and successes of our children and young people, we will have a range of activities - these include crafts, what-to-do-in-your-area info, CYPP 'consultations' with a Big Brother Video Room and a Youth Club chill-out zone.

We recognise that the Show runs over school days and an official letter to give to participant's School's Head to gain permission to perform at the Show may be needed.  If this is the case Sally can help you.

For further information or if you have any questions please contact either Sally or Trevor. Download application form.

If you are planning on visiting the Show as a 'regular' guest, make a point of stopping by our Stand - it is the easy to find because it is where everyone has a good time. We look forward to seeing you there.

Aiming High for Disabled Children Information and Consultation Event for Stakeholders 21st April 2009; Chichester College

Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) is the Government's transformation programme for disabled children's services in England. The vision is for all families with severely disabled children to have the support they need to live ordinary family lives, as a matter of course.

In West Sussex we want to significantly increase the range and number of short breaks available providing opportunities for disabled children and young people to experience and enjoy new relationships, experiences and positive activities.

The Voluntary Sector is a key partner in making this programme responsive to the needs of local children, young people and their families. Booking is essential Download the flyer

For more information about our Voluntary Sector Inclusion Forum contact Jane

Lodge Hill Open Day 25th April
Lodge Hill staff would like the opportunity to show you around their new facilities or - for the braver of you -  try some of the activities for yourself with the assistance of the qualified instructors.  Find out about Instructor training and the wealth of new activities.

The day is free of charge to all new leaders, youth workers, teachers and adult members of the voluntary youth sector. Contact Lodge Hill for booking details and download the programme.

WORKING TOGETHER BETTER TOGETHER

Using the toolkit to assess VCS engagement in the planning, strategy, delivery and evaluation of services for children, young people and their families, we will be working with a cross section of our partners to with our NCB facilitator using a joint approach.

To keep the consultation real our focus is CYPP - 2010. This means that a nationally agreed protocol linked to a well renowned national agency, NCB, acts as a framework for good Children's Trust practice and how that can be embedded in the arrangements.

Safeguarding training for the VCS
This training is designed for people from the independent, private sector, and voluntary and community groups who do not provide basic child protection and safeguarding training.Currently this training is free of charge. Booking is essential.

'ContactPoint Explained' Information Sessions

You may have heard about it - it has been in the news and talked about a lot.

ContactPoint is a national system that will hold the basic details of all children and young people, as well as contact details for their parents/carers and anyone else working to support that child.

It is designed to help professionals so they can quickly find out whether other services are involved in the care of a child.

The  two hour 'CoPo Explained' sessions is availalbe for VCS, statutory sector partners and other colleagues in the CYP workforce to attend will take place in April, May, June and July. More indepth training will take place later in the year.

To book a place email or call  01243 382473

WSCVYS is working with the ContactPoint team to identify how the VCS may engage with ContactPoint.
