The Voluntary & Community Sector and Children's Trust Steering GroupWSCVYS is the elected representative of the VCS to the Children's Trust
arrangements, and as such has the pleasure of chairing this group, which is the primary conduit for the VCS to feed into Children's Trust arrangements. Meeting once every two months, the group takes the views of the VCS around current agendas and practices to strategic levels in the Children's Trust. If you are involved in the VCS and are interested in joining the group, or to find out more, please contact WSCVYS - please put VCS/CT STEERING GROUP as the subject of your email. |
The WSCVYS Executive Committee meets four times a year and is very keen to hear from potential new members. Please contact Hanna if you would like to learn more - and please do pass this on to anyone you think may be interested.

Family & Parenting Support in the Voluntary Sector: Creating a strategy together
Most of the time parents and carers do an excellent job - sometimes in very difficult circumstances. But occasionally, for many different reasons, families may need additional support. This is frequently found in the VCS through community and local groups which work with a broad range of families to help in many different ways. The VCS/Children's Trust Steering Group is committed to supporting development of the Strategy. The aim is to support VCS organisations in identifying early intervention work that we do. Contact Hanna to see how you can get involved.

South of
England Show 11th-13th June 2009
We've received
terrific support again this year from our affiliated groups. Approximately 300
young people will participate during the three day event, showcasing some of
the wealth of diversity and talent that young people in West Sussex can offer.
Our programme is
packed full of music, sport, circus skills, crafts, dance and percussion
workshops and as if that's not enough - we'll even throw in a Salsa warm up to
start the day!
We'll have a new
"Chillout" zone this year ! in the form of a youth club set up, including air
hockey, computer games, D.J. workshops etc.
We've a Graffiti
artist coming & football coaches from Brighton & Hove Football Club!
Thursday's programme has a sporty theme, Friday is based around arts and crafts and Saturday is for
performances!
So much to do and see! And when you need a break, I suppose that you could have a look around the
rest of the Showground! But don't be long because you'll miss something!
Do contact me for further information.
See you there!

Change Up invites you to a 'Resisting the Recession' workshop which is for everyone who supports organisations and groups in the VCS in East or West Sussex.
The
event will be held on the morning of the 17th of June in Lewes.
This
FREE event will help participants to get to know more about the effects of the
recession on the VCS in Sussex, explore together what we can do, and work
together to construct a robust evidence base which can be used to demonstrate
the importance of the role of the local voluntary and community sector. You
will also be able to meet, discuss and network with others and we will finish
with a free lunch. Colleagues from NAVCA and the
University of Brighton will be able to lend their expertise to the success of
this event.
