SHIFTING SANDS: making sense of a changing environment
The annual WSCVYS Conference is to be held on Tuesday 1 November at Lodge Hill

This conference is primarily for the voluntary and community sector.  Statutory sector partners are very welcome but a small charge of £25 will be made to cover costs. Please send your application form with invoicing details and we will send you an invoice.  

PLEASE send  WSCVYS your news and views, your information, events, training, funding news, celebrations, announcements, job vacancies, and anything else you think would be of interest to our sector, for our ebulletins - and thank you to everyone who already does.  Articles about your experiences and achievements would be very welcome - as short or long as you like!

WSCVYS is working in partnership with the Local Safeguarding Children Board VCS Forum and will be producing a regular ebulletin around safeguarding.  The first issue is to be launched around 28 October - please email Mel Larter with your details and she will add you to the distribution list.

Children's Access Point (CAP) The new system for an 'Initial Assessment' designed to provide consistent support to any concerns about safeguarding, child protection, social care and welfare.  This includes enquiries from professionals - statutory and VCS - working with children and members of the public in West Sussex. Outset Youth Action and Natwest CommunityForce: Making a difference where you live

Outset needs your votes to encourage and support more young people to work together with their communities during 2012.  NatWest CommunityForce is a new initiative which sees them working with local communities to support the people, projects and charities making a real difference where you live.

The Olympics are coming....  London 2012 is looking for young volunteers to be Game Makers!

Enable Me's new after school/weekend club Ainim8 is a visual/multi-media project for children & young people (5-18) on the autistic spectrum that will allow them to use film & animation techniques in a safe and creative environment, to have fun exploring new ways to communicate with their families, peers and the rest of the world in their own unique ways!  


Reaching for Gold is looking for innovative ideas, from the South East of England, that can make a practical difference to society covering Youth, Community, Innovative Access. They want ideas from people aged 14-21 that will benefit people from the South East who are disadvantaged by the area they live in, their circumstances or by their disability.

NHS West Sussex - Have Your Say In line with the government's commitment to increase choice for NHS patients, from next year some services will be delivered by Any Qualified Provider.  NHS Sussex, the new organisation responsible for the planning, buying and monitoring of health services for the people of Sussex, would like to hear your views on which areas of care should be subject to increased choice.  So here is your chance to Have Your Say and make a real contribution to shaping your local health services. 

The deadline  is 24 October.

 BMECS and partners are holding two events this month. The first is the Black History Month Event and Launch of the Out of Asia Project DVD on 22 October . The second one is the Out of Asia Project DVD full viewing on 29 October

Sussex Clubs for Young People is promoting - among other activities - a photographic competition for young people.   


The British Youth Council is holding a Lobby of Parliament on Tuesday 25 October to give young people and youth workers the opportunity to meet with their Member of Parliament (MP) and to ask questions about young people services - details here
